CHOICES
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION/PARENT INFORMATION
Program Description: CHOICES at Aurora Central High School utilizes online curriculum to assist in the delivery of comprehensive instruction.
The program’s goals are based on several beliefs:
- All students can learn given the appropriate learning environment.
- Despite the rigor of a class, students can achieve success – if they apply themselves to the task at hand.
-
Students will rise to the level of our expectations.
-
Success breeds success!!!
Due to the limited course offerings the program is not a long-term solution for students.
CHOICES students are enrolled in one or more classes at a time. Students are expected to complete each course prior to enrolling in another one.
Course Offerings:
-
A number of courses are offered that address the cornerstone proficiencies in CORE areas. Courses offered give students the opportunity to earn credit towards graduation.
-
Some students might only be registered for one or more courses in CHOICES. The rest of their classes will be in traditional classrooms.
Student Expectations:
-- Demonstrate a commitment to completion of all assignments and assessments
-- Behavior expectations are the same as stated in the A.C.H.S. Student Handbook
-- Students are expected to attend class in room 50l or 372
NOTE: Students who do not follow the academic and behavioral expectations will be withdrawn from the program! (Revised 4/09)
