When extreme cold or snowy weather is in the forecast, the APS Support Services team will begin assessing weather conditions beginning just after midnight to determine the impact on district operations. Should we need to close school or delay the start of school, Superintendent Munn will make the decision as early as possible.
If a decision is made to delay or close schools, the APS Communication Team will share information about the decision by contacting local media, notifying staff and parents by phone using our automated calling system and posting the announcements on the APS Web site, Facebook and Twitter.
- DELAYED START: Should Superintendent Munn make the decision to delay school, the school day would begin one hour later than normal.Staff members should arrive at their school or site as close to their regular start time as is safely possible. APS buses will pick up students one hour later than normal. Schools will dismiss at their regularly scheduled times. Our top priority is to keep students and staff safe.
- SCHOOL CLOSURE: Should Superintendent Munn determine that a closure is necessary, all classes and activities will be canceled.
